NCC Q&A

1.
Q. How do I retrieve my training certificate? (Florida Teachers Only)
A. In order to retrieve your certificate of completion, you must first successfully log into the NCC application, create a new class, and invite a student. Follow the instructions in the video found here to find out how to redeem your training certificate.

2.
Q. How do I create a new account?
A. If you are a new user, and have never accessed any of Novachi’s applications in the past, you need to create a new account by selecting the appropriate option (teacher, school, or district) from under the heading on the right of the homepage (>a href=”http://www.novachi.com”>www.novachi.com), entitled, “Create a FREE account”.

You will be taken to a form. Simply fill out all the correct details and you will be contacted by support@novachi.org with your new account information.

3.
Q. How do I log in?
A. From the Novachi homepage (>a href=”http://www.novachi.com”>www.novachi.com) find the area to the left under the heading, “Access Your Account”. Input your email address into the email field and select login. If you already have an account with us, the system will automatically detect the proper account for you, and take you to the login screen where you may input your email adress/username into the proper fields.

3.
Q. I signed into Novachi, how do I access NCC?
A. From within the Novachi platform (after having logged in) simply select the “Apps” tab, then select “Launch” and choose the “Novachi Classroom Collaboration” option. You should then be directed to NCC.

4.
Q. How do I change my password?
A. Login to your Novachi account. From the “My Profile” tab, select “Change Preferences”. From here you should have the option to change your password. Note: This will automatically update all your various Novachi account passwords to reflect your changes (SSO).

5.
Q. Can I use apps other than NCC?
A. Yes, from the “Apps” menu, you can launch a variety of apps designed just for teachers.

6.
Q. Can I invite other users into NCC?
A. Yes, using the classroom “invite” function, Teachers who are an admin for their class can invite Faculty, Students, and Parents. Inviting a user as a faculty member will give them the opportunity to create and manage their own classrooms. Inviting parents and students will provide them access to your class and any information you may have shared with them.

7.
Q. How do I invite students into my classroom?
A. The NCC system recognizes two different types of students, those who are over 13 years of age, and those who are under. For users over 13 years of age, you may simply navigate to the class you wish to add the user to, and press the “invite” button at the top right of your classroom screen. From here, you will be asked to select the type of account you are trying to activate (faculty, student, or parent). Select the student option, input a first name, last name and email address.

After these fields, you will see the option “Student Under 13”, and “Student over 13”. For students over 13, simply select the appropriate field and select “invite”, or “add user”.

If you are trying to invite a user under the age of 13, leave the email field blank and select “Student Under 13.” You will now be asked to indicate whether or not the child in question has been provided with parental consent. If a child already has parental consent under COPPA (Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act) than select this option. An email with the users access credentials will be sent to your inbox and you may give these to the user in question personally.

If the child in question does not yet have COPPA compliance (Parental Consent), don’t worry. In the email field, input the child’s parent’s email address. The parent will be sent a Novachi account activation email with instructions on how to provide consent for their child to access the system.

8.
Q. How do I invite faculty into the classroom?
A. In order to invite another faculty member into your classroom, and thus the NCC application, simply go to your class page, and select “Invite” from the top right of your classroom page. Once in the invite screen, select the faculty option, input first name, last name, and email address and press “invite”.

The invited user will receive an email with instructions on how to access their account.

9.
Q. How do I invite a parent into my classroom?
A. In order to invite parents into your classroom, and thus the NCC application, simply go to your class page, and select “Invite” from the top right of your classroom page. Once in the invite screen, select the “parent” option, input first name, last name, and email address and press “invite”.

Parents will be able to view all information made public to the class.

10.
Q. How do I create a class?
A. As a teacher (or faculty member) you alone have the ability to create new “classes” in the NCC application. Teachers effectively become administrators for their classroom, and are responsible for handling invitations, and managing user access to the class.

To create the class, navigate to the “classes” tab using your teacher account. On the top right of the “Classes” page should be a button that says, “”Create a new class”. After pressing the button, you will be brought to the class creation page. Simply fill out all the proper information as is necessary.

For most class purposes, it is important that you set the class permissions level to invited users only (this ensures that only people you invited can access and add materials to the class). You also want to ensure that the class access is set to “class members only” in the “Who can see this?” drop-down menu.

All the options below the “Who can see this?” question allow you to enable various features inside your classroom. By default, it is best to enable all of these unless you forsee no need for them (you can always de-activate or activate them as needed later).

11.
Q. I finished creating my class, but I made a mistake, can I go back and change my class details?
A. Yes! You may change your class details at anytime by navigating to the class in question and selecting the “Edit” option next to the invite button. Only teacher and faculty accounts have this option.

12.
Q. Where do I access my account from (login)?
A. You may access your account from http://www.novachi.com. If your account has already been created (whether by yourself, by your school, or via email invitation) simply type your email into the email field underneath the “access your account” heading on the homepage. If you have not yet created an account, select “Teacher”, “school”, or “district” from below the “Create a FREE account” heading on the homepage.

13.
Q. I never received my user-name and password from Novachi, who should I contact?
A. Contact support@novachi.org and give your full name, email address, school name, and be sure to mention NCC.

14.
Q. What can I do with my NCC account?
